Florianópolis is not one continuous resort strip. Lagoa da Conceição gives the island an inland meeting point between water, hills, and east-coast beaches, while the centre follows a more urban rhythm. A base near the lagoon, the north, or the south creates a different day and different travel times. It suits travellers willing to choose a part of the island rather than treat every beach as next door.
